News

Please Please consider sponsoring one of our animals. It could make such a huge amount of difference to Animals In Needs funding and help us to be able to help more Animals in need! If just 60 people sponsored a kennel at £10 per month by direct debit it would bring another £7,200 in per year, if 600 did that would be 72k that would cover our annual running costs leaving us more time to help the animsl and less time to worry about all the fundraising events we need to organise, it is a huge amount to an organisation like us and every penny of it will go straight back to rescuing the animals.Whats £10?? A take away for one? A bottle of wine? A nice box of chocs? If you are stuck for a christmas pressie for some one you can sponsor an animal on there behalf, we will send a certificate out to every one who sponsors.

Roy & Jenny

Animal In Need Sanctuary has another reason to celebrate in it’s 20th year!

Animals in Need Northamptonshire are delighted to announce that the highly respected English actress Jenny Seagrove has agreed to be a patron of our animal sanctuary based at Pine Tree Farm. Jenny Seagrove is well known for playing the character Jo Mills in the long running BBC drama Judge John Deed and has made many appearances on stage and in film as well as on television, establishing herself as one of Britain’s best loved actresses.

She is a keen animal activist, speaking out for many years against experiments on animals and promotes the health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, which is why Animals in Need were delighted when she agreed to be associated with the sanctuary. Roy Marriott, from Animals in Need comments "what a wonderful way to celebrate our 20th anniversary year, with Jenny becoming a patron of the charity. We are absolutely delighted and can’t wait for her to visit us".

Earlier this year Heather Mills agreed to become a patron and it is a testament to the hard work and success of Animals in Need that Jenny has also agreed to become a patron. This sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates, rehomes and releases both domestic and wild animals and in the last 3 years has dealt with over 6000 animals. Competition to find the UK’s Best Rescue Pet!

While it is essential to have rescue centres providing temporary homes for our pets, it is also essential to reward the big hearted people who open their hearts and their homes to a 'second hand' pet, which often may not be the easiest animal to take in if it has experienced stress, trauma or cruelty.

Therefore as part of our awards ceremony we are working with a National Newspaper to find UK's best rescue pet and recognise pet and owner for their special story, be it overcoming some behavioral adversity or rehoming and rehabilitating a pet against all the odds.
The winning pet (if appropriate) and owner will be featured in the Newspapers and will be invited to the March 2011 Wetnose/Burgess Rescue Aware ceremony in London next March 2011 to receive their award at the star studded event. The winner will be presented with a trophy and will also receive a lifetimes supply of food for the winning pet courtesy of Burgess Pet Care. Travel expenses and overnight accommodation in pet friendly hotel will also be provided for 2 people together with 2 tickets for an evening show and meal so they can make the most of their trip to London. If the winners are bringing their pet we will find an alternative suitable activity that can include the pet. Please visit our website for more information the deadline is 30.10.10.
Post your entries too: Wetnose Animal Aid, Newgate Lodge, Newgate, Kirby Cane, Norfolk, NR35 2PP

Nominate a UK rescue Centre

This year we are inviting all independent UK rescue centres to nominate themselves for a recognition award under the specific category headings as shown below. You can either nominate your own rescue centre or nominate a rescue centre that you know. To submit your nomination please complete the online form (available shortly), or download the paper form and post it with any supporting documentation to Wetnose Animal Aid or download and return by post to Wetnose Animal Aid, Newgate Lodge, Newgate, Kirby Cane, Norfolk, NR35 2PP.

To avoid disappointment please ensure you fill all sections of the nomination form in as we are unable to accept incomplete forms. Note: Rescue centres may nominate themselves for a specific category – even if they rescue other types of pets. (e.g a dog rescue can nominate themselves for the ‘best dog rescue’ even if they rescue cats and rabbits too). The categories include:  Best dog rescue - Best cat rescue - Best small animal (rodent) - Best ‘fibrevore’ rescue (rabbit/guinea/chinchilla) - Best Greyhound rescue - Best donkey / horse rescue - Best ‘rescue’ story.

The judging panel will pick the best overall UK rescue  centre from the winners of the above categories and this will be announced at the award ceremony. In addition to the ‘Best UK Rescue Centre’ Award, the winner will receive a cash donation of £500 courtesy of Burgess Pet Care.
