Vacancy - Receptionist

Part - time Receptionist 
20 hrs per week over 5 days (including Sundays)

We are looking for a confident receptionist to join our busy animal rescue and rehoming charity. The successful applicant will care about animal welfare and help us to promote adoption and may support with fundraising activities from time to time.

Main tasks and responsibilities: 
• To provide general administrative support and complete tasks including handling phone calls and relaying messages to the team both timely and accurately 
• Greeting visitors on site and maintaining the signing in book
• Dealing with a variety of queries from the public from general enquiries to requests for animal rescues
• Taking in donations and liaising with staff to ensure these are removed from reception promptly
• Preparing adoption packs for animals who are going to a new home
• Maintaining animal care records with dates of vaccinations, micro-chipping and neutering etc
• Taking payments for adoption fees and merchandise sold
• Maintain documentation e.g. maintenance record and accident book 
• Maintaining a clean and tidy reception area 
• Other general tasks may include minor cleaning, stock replenishment, administration of keys and requests for supplies

Essential skills:
• Must be physically fit and able to lift stock and heavy donation bags
• Prior experience as a receptionist or similar role
• Able to multi-task effectively and prioritise workload
• Can deal with difficult calls and face to face situations with people who may be angry or upset
• Can demonstrate a calm approach in challenging situations
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Computer literate 
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and data protection

Desirable:
• Previous experience in a vet surgery or customer service role
• First aid trained

This role will pay the national minimum wage
